Note:
Zinc-air batteries reach their maximum performance only after they are activated. When the sealing tab is removed, atmospheric oxygen enters the battery and in combination with the electrolyte contained in the battery, the oxidation process is activated, which produces the energy. In the off state, the battery may give a voltage reading of around 1.05v.

Accidentally shorting the battery, even for a second, may also drop the battery voltage to its lowest level. If this happens, it does not mean that the battery is dead but that it will take a few minutes for them to recover their voltage to the appropriate level. So, giving a few minutes to the battery will save you from the cost of disposal a battery that is able to provide a normal performance.
